At 243,000 kilometres, Canada’s coastline is the longest in the world. Add to that the total length of Canada’s fresh water shorelines, fjords, lakes, rivers and streams and we’re talking big water! The Big Wild, in partnership with the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, is inviting you to share your photos of Canada’s oceans, rivers and lakes and show your support for protecting Canada’s marine habitats. Welcome to Big Wild, Big Water.
We’re giving away great prizes to two lucky winners. The best outdoor activity photo will win the Banff Prize Pack: two Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival VIP passes, accommodation at the Banff Centre (one room for three nights), up to $1000 toward two economy class tickets to travel to Banff, tickets for two people to the films and presentations, and invitations to private social functions with festival guests. The best scenic photo will win a $500 MEC Gift Card.
The catch? Your photo must have been taken by you, in Canada, and must include a body of water – creek, river, lake, ocean – somewhere in the photo. Glaciers and frozen water doesn’t count.
Each photo you submit counts as an action taken in support of CPAWS Dare to be Deep campaign to establish 12 new marine protected areas. You can submit as many photos as you want, but entries have to be received before September 30, 2012.
Ready to submit a photo? Head on over to Big Wild, Big Water.
